It’s the breath of products and the fact that Amazon is simply a conversion machine.
But what if you could make $100’s per Amazon sale not just a few dollars? Even at the 4% category a $2500 sale brings you $100.

Why High Ticket Items
Because Amazon commission rates are in the single digits and products are typically in the $25- $150 range, you need a fair amount of sales volume. Affiliates really need 10,000 + viewers per month given the Amazon commission schedule. Well how about targeting some $250-$2,000 + products. It takes fewer unit sales to generate meaningful commissions if the products are higher ticket items. It takes less traffic. With so many products at Amazon, there are many high ticket items to promote.
How to select high-ticket items
Sure Amazon has some very high-priced rare items and collectibles. When I wrote this article for instance there were a number of mens watches that were over $200,000!
These are often one of a kind products. An interesting affiliate opportunity for some but they would not work for most niches.. Imagine the commission on some of these items. Watches are 7% so the commission would be in the $15,000 range. Unfortunately, few of these items actually sell at Amazon and the chances of you sending the customer to Amazon for a six-figure watch is more like a lottery event than marketing.
But what about focusing on high ticket Amazon items that actually sell with some volume and have good reviews. Rather than focus on 1000’s of small ticket sales that requires high traffic volumes to your site, here are some ideas for big-ticket items.
You can promote these products to your audience and email lists. I would promote them more like recurring high-commission products. Build a landing page for these high-end products and direct your email list readers to the page (never advertise Amazon products directly in an email. That is a TOS violation – see things that will get you banned) You might even consider a low-cost keyword advertising campaign. Or create a new niche site around a related group of these products. It only takes a few sales per month of these expensive products to make a difference in your income.
Keep an eye on the Amazon Commission rates per category. With expensive products, it pays to be in the higher rates.
Horse people are nuts – in a good way. They are committed to their animals and riding. Tack shops typically have a small number of items to choose from and are not present in many communities.
Price Range: $400 – $2,800
Bicycles for serious riders come in many shapes and sizes depending on your sies, height, and type of riding you do. This variety is what makes Amazon appealing as a source.
Price Range: $850 – $4,000
Unless you live near a huge city it is unlikely that you will have access to a store that sells telescopes.
Price Range: $1,900 – $18,000
Photographers are always on the lookout for a special piece of glass. Very long telephoto lens, extra fast lenses, and other specialty lenses are just not available in your local camera or big box store.
Price Range: $800 – $25,000
These generators are an ideal item. A consumer can not go down to their local store and buy one. There is a great variety of options in both size and fuel sources.
Price Range: %550 – $3,200
Like swimming pools, hot tubs are a high ticket item that will ship directly to your home.
Price Range: $375 – 3,600
Watches and Jewelry
I love a fine mechanical watch. For men it is our jewelry. The high-end mechanical watches from Rolex, Patek, Omega etc. start in the tens of thousands. There are people who just love fine watches – typically men. Patek sais it best in their ads.

This is also a decent paying Amazon category. at 4%.
Expensive Fashion Products
Ok I admit it I don’t get the need to have the latest limited edition fashion item. I certainly like a nice Canali suit for instance but I will buy it aat the end of the season on clearance. But for many otehrs it is seen or be seen. Furs, formal wear, shoes, mens suits, and more can easily be over $2,500.
Fashion pays 4% at Amazon so it is worth chasing.
For many when you travel you are embarking on an adventure. You may even be tarvelling a bit out of your normal social circles. So when you are setting off for Monte Carlo or Hong Kong you want to travel in style. Luggage does not really go our of style and is used infrequently so it is a lifetime purchase. Tumi, Hartmann, Bric’s, can all be well into the thosuands.
Amazon pays 4% for luggage sales.
No surprise that fine art can get expensive. You won’t find any million dollar Rembrandts but you will find lots of art priced from $2,500 – $25,000. People often end up becoming collectors of a particular artist and may look to Amazon to round out the collection.
Fine Art is an odd category paying a maximum of $200.
Professional Musical Instruments
Professionals of course need the best instruments. But even as an ameteur I love to have a beautifully crafted guitar. It somehow elevates your game. These typically custom guitars start at a few thousand dollars and easily reach $10,000. A professional cello – $5,000 – $20,000.
Musical instruments are one of the highest paying categories at 6%.
Expensive Beauty Products
Amazon has a luxury beauty category. As you might imagine there are some very expensive items in this group. From a $3,000 massage chair to a $6,500 shaving kit. You can aim a bit lower here and still get great commisions, this is tehre highest paying category.
Luxury Beauty pays 10%.
From modern examples to classic chandeliers lighting is expensive. And antique or special items can easily go to $100,000. Lighting is often a key focal point in a new home or major remodel. There are always a number of lighting options in the $20,000 – $50,000 range.
Lighting pays 8% – nice.
Drones are hot. Anyone can now safely fly a drone with camera and make high quality videos. Company’s like DJI have drones from $2,000 – $5,000. You may also want to check out the DJI affilaite program which we reviewed.
Drones are a 4% commission item.
How to Market Expensive Products
Best to concentrate on very specific keywords. These will also be less competitive. You may want use these high priced items as magnets for your regular content and downsell from them. Certainly I wouldn’t expect large volume of sales with these products. In fact the strategy is low transaction high commission sales.
Some affiliates may choose to focus a site exclusively on thes ehigh end products. If you choose a high paying category like home and outdoors you can be getting a high commission rate on high priced items.
Advertising is not out of the question but the Amazon 24-hour cookie makes investing in funnels and longer sales cycles problematic.

As an Amazon Associate, you have the benefit of Amazon's online dominance -- but the commission rates are low.
How should you select more expensive products?
You want to find exceptional products that will resonate with your audience and niche.
How much does Amazon pay its affiliates?
The Associates are paid a percentage of the sales amount. It does not matter what the referred customer buys. The rates vary by department and range from 2% - 8%.
These luxury and premium products have buyers. But you need to find high priced items that overlap with your niche audience to be succesful with expensive affiliate products. It really would do no good to advertise those expensive watches if your site is about boats. Also, unless it is your core niche, you may want to avoid easy to source local products like televisions and highly personal products like jewelry.
You can get some home runs by including these high priced items in your offer mix. You can either focus on them almost exclusively on a site with primarily Amazon expensive products or create a rich mix of offers with your regular Amazon sales making up the bulk of your commissions and these expensive Amazon products being a bonus.
